Living in Kuala Lumpur as Digital Nomads—A Dream or Not? 🇲🇾

Some local friends in KL told us that we absolutely needed to visit Ipoh—Malaysia’s hidden gem. They said the food here is among the best in the country, so of course, we had to check it out. After visiting Malacca and on our way to Penang, we spent a few days in this city, and it quickly grew on us. (Check out our other vlog for more on our trip!)

But this video is all about Ipoh’s incredible food scene. While we couldn’t try everything in just a few days, we did our best! From the famous beggar’s chicken and curry bun to Ipoh white coffee and frozen beer, we tasted some unforgettable flavors. And we already can’t wait to come back for more!

How We Started Our Travel Blog (And Why You Should Too!)

If you’re into history, charm, and a dash of mystery, Ipoh is about to win you over like it did us. This city isn’t just another stop—it’s a journey through time. From the haunting Papan Heritage Village, where echoes of the past seem to whisper through the streets, to the enigmatic Kellie’s Castle (cue Ryan saying, “It’s giving major Scooby-Doo haunted mansion vibes!”), Ipoh feels like stepping into a storybook. Its iconic train station looks straight out of a Wes Anderson film, while the Birch Memorial Clock Tower adds a touch of Victorian England to the tropics.

Concubine Street is bursting with personality—murals, narrow alleys, and unique shops that make it impossible to resist snagging a pack of Pokémon cards. As the sun sets, the city transforms. We found ourselves at Durbar at FMS, Malaysia’s oldest bar and restaurant, soaking up colonial-era charm with a cocktail in hand. Ipoh’s seamless blend of Chinese, British, and Malay influences makes it an adventure you’ll never forget!
