When we were looking at outdated forums of train travel in Azerbaijan, there was always a lot of dissing of Azerbaijani trains, but these new trains launched in June 2024 exceeded our expectations.

Fast, kind service, clean bathrooms, on time — were just some of the positives. 

Azerbaijan is set to expand these routes across the country, replacing old, rickety Soviet-era trains. 

It might not be as fast at what is in European countries or China and Japan, but it is vastly better than what is in the US 😜.

We wanted to see what €25 or 50ish AZN (Azerbaijani Manat) would get us in the capital, Baku, and as you can see, it got us quite a lot. 

We probably could have stretched this even further, but we were buying things mainly in the center. 

Anyway, we just left the city and miss it already. Take us back.
